Executive Biography- Paul Williams, Executive Vice President

Paul Williams is Executive Vice President of Commercial Vehicle Tires for Continental Tire the Americas, LLC. He has served in this role since 2008. Williams began his career in the manufacturing industry as operations manager at Aerolux, moving on to the role of production and purchasing controller for Nissan Motors in the United Kingdom. In 2001, he joined Continental AG as purchasing manager for the power and transmission group of ContiTech, a world-leading manufacturer of rubber and plastics technologies. Williams took an international assignment to Continental Tire the Americas, LLC in 2003 to serve as director of purchasing, and later, vice president of purchasing and supply chain for the Americas at its headquarters in Lancaster County, South Carolina. In this role he successfully steered the restructuring of CTA’s purchasing organization following its integration with Siemens VDO. In his current role, Williams is responsible for original equipment and replacement sales of truck tires in the Americas, encompassing the major markets of the United States, Canada, Mexico, Argentina, Brazil and Ecuador. During Mr. Williams’ tenure as executive vice president, Continental’s truck tire business unit has enjoyed more than 27 percent market growth since 2009; introduced its retreaded tire solution, ContiLifeCycle, to markets throughout the Americas; and radialized its truck tire plant in Ecuador to become the only manufacturer of radial commercial truck tires in the Andean region. Williams, a native of the United Kingdom, holds a master’s degree in business administration and a bachelor of science in engineering, and is a certified purchasing manager.

Executive Biography- John Barnes, Manager of ContiLifeCycle™ Activities

John Barnes is head of the business unit ContiLifeCycle for the Americas, reporting directly to the executive vice president for truck tires. In this role, Barnes is responsible for developing and executing business strategies for retreading activities; overseeing the ContiLifeCycle plants and manufacturing throughout the Americas; development of distribution channels; managing ContiLifeCycle dealer integration and support activities; and product development of the ContiLifeCycle portfolio.

In previous roles at Continental Tire the Americas, Barnes served as commercial vehicle tires business development manager – launching ContiLifeCycle activities in 2009; passenger and light truck tire replacement product launch manager for the Americas; and project manager for North American operations in passenger and light truck.

Barnes’ experience in the North American tire industry dates since 1992, with engineering, management and operations experience at major manufacturers. He also holds extensive experience in atomic power engineering and served aboard the U.S. Navy’s USS ENTERPRISE as a senior technical advisor for the carrier’s reactor operators.

Barnes holds a bachelor of science in human resources management and a master’s degree in business administration.
